Steinatal waterworks now in operation

Following the two plants in Clausthal-Zellerfeld, a third waterworks for treating drinking water from dam water has been in operation in Bad Sachsa in the Harz Mountains since March 2025.

The plant has a redundant design with two lines, each with a treatment capacity of 30 m³/h. Two Boll filters with a filter fineness of 100 micrometres are installed upstream of the inlet to retain particulate solids. The water is treated using an ozone stage with a downstream filter stage for flocculation and alkalisation, followed by a further ozone stage for biofiltration. Finally, the water is disinfected by UV treatment. The purified water is temporarily stored in two stainless steel tanks (each with a capacity of 75 m³ and fed into the supply network via pumps.
