What is the HYDROZON process?
The HYDROZON process is a chlorine-free method for the treatment and disinfection of swimming pool and bathing pool water in accordance with DIN 19643-5. The combination of ozone and bromine produces crystal-clear, low-odour and skin-friendly bathing water – without the typical indoor swimming pool odour. The process is suitable for public swimming pools, hotel pools, therapeutic pools, leisure pools and high-quality private pools.
How does the chlorine-free process work?
The HYDROZON® process operates with ozone injection into a closed hydraulic circuit system. The ozone required is generated within the system from atmospheric oxygen using electrical energy. This eliminates the need for the transport, storage and handling of hazardous disinfectant chemicals.
For water disinfection, a small amount of bromide in the form of a salt that is harmless to health is added to the pool water. During the treatment process, this produces hypobromous acid, which reliably ensures hygienically sound disinfection of the pool water. Once the disinfection process is complete, the bromide is returned to the treatment circuit and continuously regenerated.
Since disinfection takes place throughout the entire water cycle, filters and system components are also kept hygienically clean at all times. This process effectively prevents bacterial contamination of the filters.
The HYDROZON® process is typically implemented using standardized HYDROZON® compact systems. For the modernization of existing swimming pools with conventional chlorine disinfection, high-performance ozone generators and oxidizer units are available, which allow systems to be converted without any problems.
The result is crystal-clear, low-odor, and skin-friendly pool water, combined with high operational reliability and cost-effective system operation.
